EU and competition - anti-trust
The EU and competition law practice of Kennedy Van der Laan has
built up extensive experience in a broad range of competition law
issues faced by our clients. A major area of our competition work
is in the financial sector where we represent a joint venture of
the largest Dutch banks regarding the structure and operation of
the interbank payment systems. Other clients come from the banking,
public transport,
health care,
media,
telecommunications and
IT industries.
We provide strategic advice in structuring corporate
transactions and
commercial contracts. We advise on competition issues in
franchise and distribution structures, pricing schemes, state aid
limitations on direct or indirect government funding of business
activities and public-private cooperative activities, as well as on
the specific concerns of a business determined or likely to be
determined to have a dominant position in its market.
Our attorneys have extensive experience representing clients in
litigation before the Dutch Competition Authority and the courts,
dealing with the filings and regulatory requirements of the
Authority, and advising clients in the difficult area of joint
jurisdiction of the Competition Authority and the sector-specific
market sector
regulatory authorities.
Our EU and competition/antitrust group is key in supporting our
corporate transaction practice by laying out the competition
law strategy needed to bring a deal to completion.
