Petra Tolen
Petra joined Kennedy Van der Laan in 2011. She advises and
litigates in the broad field of privacy and protection of personal
data.
Petra studied law in Leiden. After her studies she first worked
as a supporting lawyer for the Court of Appeal in The Hague, and
then as a senior policy officer for the Dutch Data Protection
Authority, where she lost her heart to privacy law. At the Data
Protection Authority Petra was responsible for the international
transfers of personal data, especially the Binding Corporate Rules.
Furthermore, she also occupied herself with cloud computing, the
so-called smart networks and black lists.
Petra is a member of the Privacy Law Association.
In her spare time Petra loves to be outside and to run and
cycle. She also likes to cook with her friends, is trying to learn
to dance the Argentinian tango and enjoys travelling to far and not
so far countries.
