Petra Tolen

Petra joined Kennedy Van der Laan in 2011. She advises and litigates in the broad field of privacy and protection of personal data.

Petra studied law in Leiden. After her studies she first worked as a supporting lawyer for the Court of Appeal in The Hague, and then as a senior policy officer for the Dutch Data Protection Authority, where she lost her heart to privacy law. At the Data Protection Authority Petra was responsible for the international transfers of personal data, especially the Binding Corporate Rules. Furthermore, she also occupied herself with cloud computing, the so-called smart networks and black lists.

Petra is a member of the Privacy Law Association.

In her spare time Petra loves to be outside and to run and cycle. She also likes to cook with her friends, is trying to learn to dance the Argentinian tango and enjoys travelling to far and not so far countries.
