Eberhard van der Laan to leave Kennedy Van der Laan to become Dutch minister for Housing, Communities and Integration
AMSTERDAM, 14 November 2008 - Eberhard van der Laan, named
partner and co-founder of Kennedy Van der Laan, has left the firm
to become the Dutch minister for Housing, Communities and
Integration. "We regret his departure, but are above all proud
that one of our partners has been asked to take up this ministerial
position," said Joost Linnemann, managing partner of Kennedy
Van der Laan.
In 1992 Eberhard van der Laan laid the foundation for Kennedy Van
der Laan together with ten colleagues. Now employing nearly 100
lawyers, Kennedy Van der Laan represents the interests of a large
number of leading global and national companies, start-ups,
government bodies, institutions and individuals.
"Eberhard has played a major part in the development of our
firm," said Linnemann. "Thanks to his deeply held
convictions, Kennedy Van der Laan is a firm that not only revolves
around commercial success, but one that also pays a great deal of
attention to people and society. Eberhard will be greatly
missed."
Eberhard van der Laan (53) has been a lawyer since 1983. He is
an experienced litigator with extensive expertise in the field of
civil and criminal liability, real estate and freedom of speech. As
a lawyer he has assisted both companies and government bodies which
sought his advice, particularly in cases of a sensitive and complex
nature. He is known as an expert in the field of public-private
partnerships, in which he has represented both governments and
market parties. Van der Laan often acted as mediator. He is a
former chairman of the Dutch labour party (PvdA) in the Amsterdam
city council.
