Art projects
We strive to stimulate and express the creativity so important
in law practice by filling our offices with innovative art and
inviting artist to carry out innovative art projects in our
midst.
We have put together a collection of paintings, sculptures,
lithographs, drawings, and other art expressions all by young,
modern artists living and working in the Netherlands. Dieneke Blom
has acted as our artistic advisor in building our art collection
and helped us produce a book of representative works out of our
collection, entitled "Kamers" (meaning
"rooms").
Recently, Dineke has chosen to take on other responsibilities
and we are happy to have found Erik Mattijsen to act as our
artistic advisor for our collection.
Art is not only to be collected but also to be lived. In 2006 we
commissioned our first live art project under leadership of
Nathalie Bruys. The goal of the project was to challenge the
viewer, and make each of us a participant in the project, not just
a viewer. It was meant to surprise us, and catch us a bit off
balance. In all of this, "Silence at Work" was a great
success. You can get an idea of the project by visiting Silence at
Work. Based in part on this project, Nathalie won a prize from the
Dutch national newspaper Volkskrant.
On the occasion of our fifteenth anniversary in 2007 Kennedy Van
der Laan asked Nathalie to make a new performance: "Saved by
Voices". Voices and sounds played an important role in this
performance.
This website itself is also in part an art project. We engaged
art photographers Martine Stig and Viviane Sassen to bring this
site alive with their creative and unexpected photographs of us in
our offices. When you look at the photo's you can imagine that
we had a lot of fun striking the poses and doing the slightly crazy
things that the photographers asked of us. We hope you see that fun
reflected throughout this website.
